Watchface
Description
Most digital watchfaces change the minute the way a light switch changes a room: one instant it is 10:07, the next it is 10:08. Ebb lets the time go out like a tide. Just before the minute turns, the digits begin to dissolve, pixel by pixel, until the face is empty. For a breath there is nothing there. Then the new time gathers out of the same pixels, the way it left. The change itself lands on the full minute, so the face is never a second behind. Two ways to let it go. Dither breaks the numerals into an even, ordered pattern - the classic look of a screen that only knows two colours, fading through every shade it does not have. Dissolve scatters them like sand, a random grain that thins out and fills in again. Both are drawn directly into the display, so each pixel disappears exactly once and comes back exactly once. The time is set in LECO 1976, the geometric numerals the Pebble was always associated with, drawn far larger than the built-in version allows - two lines, hours above minutes, filling the display. Both colours are yours. Pick a background and a colour for the digits; if you happen to pick the same one twice, the watch quietly substitutes something you can read. The pace is yours too: quick, gentle or slow. Between two transitions nothing is drawn at all. There is no Bluetooth traffic while it runs, no sensors and no second hand - the only movement is the brief moment each minute that the face exists for. Made for Pebble Time 2 and Pebble Round 2.
