Description

Waymark turns your Pebble into a trail guide. Upload a GPX file on the web, pick it on your watch, and follow it step by step with your live position, distance to go and turn cues on your wrist.

Open beta: Waymark is in open beta. The core features work, and it is still being tested on more watches and on longer walks. Feedback is welcome.

How it works

- Add a trail: upload a GPX file with a recorded track on the Waymark website. Up to 10 trails, 300 KB each.
- Pick it on your watch: scan the QR code in the app to link your watch, then choose a trail from the menu.
- Walk: your phone’s GPS follows you and sends small updates to the watch, which draws the trail.

Features

- Trail map: the whole trail drawn as a clean line, north up, with a scale and the total length. No map tiles to download.
- Live position and distance remaining along the trail.
- Off-track alert: shows how far you are from the trail and vibrates when you leave it and when you are back on it.
- Turn cues: the next turn is always in the footer, then a full-screen cue with its distance and a small map as you get close.
- Directions view centred on you, with an optional compass heading and a heading-up mode.
- Waypoints: named GPX waypoints appear on the trail and the next one is named with its distance. Can be hidden.
- Reverse direction: follow any trail from its end back to its start.
- Offline trail: save one trail on the watch and open it without the phone, then step through points and turns with the buttons.
- Record a trail: record a walk with your phone’s GPS and it is saved as a new trail.
- Arrival summary: time taken, distance walked and steps.
- Metric or imperial units, dark mode, and the clock and battery on every screen.
- Vibration can be turned off in the settings.

Notes

- You need a phone with the Pebble app, location permission for GPS, and an internet connection to load a trail. A saved offline trail opens without the phone.
- Your GPX files and recorded trails are stored in your Waymark account. Your live location is processed on your phone while you follow a trail.
