New: heat stress (WBGT)
Wet Bulb Globe Temperature is now available in any of the four
complication slots. It combines heat, humidity, wind and sunlight
into the single number that outdoor activity guidelines are written
around: and unlike a simple heat index, it accounts for solar load,
which is what makes it usable for decisions about practicing outdoors.
- Pick it for a text line to see the reading and its band, e.g.
"WBGT 88° HIGH".
- Pick it for a badge to get a colored pill that can appear only
when it matters: set "only when notable" and the pill shows up
exactly when the guidelines start calling for rest breaks.
- Follows your temperature unit setting.
This is an estimate calculated from your local forecast, not a reading
from an instrument at your location. Bands follow the ACSM-derived
table used by several state athletic associations; thresholds vary by
state and region, so check the policy that applies to you.
If your forecast is missing the sunlight data this needs, the reading
is left blank rather than falling back to a shade estimate: a shade
figure reads too low in exactly the conditions that matter most.
