Same face, same rules: an analogue watchface that does one thing — tell you the time, immediately. Large numerals, hands that differ clearly in length and width, hour marks that stand apart from minute marks, one accent colour for twelve o'clock and the pivot. The day of the month in a window at three.

What differs is the ground. Werkstatt draws white on black; Stattwerk draws black on white.

That is not a matter of taste alone. The Pebble Time 2 has a transflective display: in daylight it works by reflecting light, and the state that reflects is the light one. Outdoors on a bright day, a white dial is the one the screen was built for. At night, under the backlight, the dark one is easier on the eye. Which of the two you want depends on where you spend your day — so there are two, and you pick.

Neither costs more battery than the other. The display draws power when pixels change, not when they are light or dark. Stattwerk redraws once a minute, exactly like Werkstatt.

No second hand — that is a decision, not an omission. No weather, no step count, no configuration screen. The dial gets all the room.
